You can customize your Alexa device with skills according to your needs. Adding skills to your voice assistant can be a little tricky, but this can be done without downloading or installing any extra things. Here is how to find skills and add them to your Alexa.
Here are three different way to add skills on Amazon Alexa.
- Adding through Voice Commands.
- Adding through Alexa app.
- Adding through Amazon Website.
How to add skills on Alexa by Voice commands
To find skills:
- Say “Alexa/Echo/Amazon” to wake up your voice assistant.
- Then say “Alexa/Echo, recommend me some skills.” She will tell you about some popular skills.
You can also search for some specific category like news, games, etc. To get recommendations on any specific type, say “Alexa/Echo, recommend me game skills.”
To add skills:
If you already know the name of any skill and know about it, then you can directly ask Alexa to enable it.
- Say “Alexa/Echo/Amazon” to wake up your voice assistant.
- Then say “Alexa, enable ‘NAME’ skill.”
Skill will add to your Alexa device. If you want to remove any skill from your Alexa then instead of ‘enable’ say ‘disable.’
How to add skills on Alexa using Alexa app
Download the Amazon Alexa app on your device if it is not.
- Launch the ‘Amazon Alexa’ app.
- Tap on ‘three lines’ icon at the top-left side.
- Select ‘Skills’ from the bottom of the menu.
- Tap on ‘Search all skills’ box at the top to search for a specific skill.
- Tap on ‘CATEGORIES’ button near the top to search for skills through categories.
- Tap on a skill to view its details and add it to your Alexa.
- Tap on large blue ‘Enable’ button to add the skill to your Alexa.
Skill will add to your Alexa device.
To disable and manage your Alexa skills:
If you want to disable any skill or alter its settings, then go to ‘Your Skills’ section in Amazon Alexa app and do it from there.
- Launch the ‘Amazon Alexa’ app.
- Tap on ‘three lines’ icon at the top-left side.
- Select ‘Skills’ from the bottom of the menu.
- Tap on ‘Your Skills’ near the top right corner.
List of all enabled skills on your Alexa device will show up, select the skill you want to disable or alter its settings.
How to add skills on Alexa using Amazon website
- Start your preferred Web browser.
- And go to “www.amazon.com.”
- Go to log in section.
- And use the same Amazon account you’re using on your Alexa.
- Hover the mouse cursor over ‘Departments’ tab at the top.
- Click on ‘Echo & Alexa’ from the dropdown menu of Departments.
- Click on ‘Alexa Skills’ under Content & Resources section.
- Use the search bar to search for a specific skill.
- Use ‘Categories’ to search for skills through categories.
- Click on a ‘Skill’ to view its details and add it to your Alexa.
- Click on large yellow ‘Enable’ button to add the skill to your Alexa.
Skill will add to your Alexa device.
